| On March 31, 2005 Oktibbeha County became the fifth Storm Ready
county in Mississippi. Oktibbeha joins the four other Storm Ready
counties, Jones, Rankin, Tunica, and Tippah. There are also 10 Storm
Ready Communities in Mississippi.
Jim Britt, director of Oktibbeha county Emergency Management agency,
accepted the recognition certificate for the county. It was through
Jim’s leadership that the county was able to obtain this recognition.
We congratulate Oktibbeha County for its efforts. The citizens
of Oktibbeha County should be proud of the official in their county
for taking the necessary steps to ensure their safety.
