Hattiesburg, MS knows all about severe weather and how
important storm
readiness is. In cooperation with the National Weather Service Storm
Ready program, the city of Hattiesburg has developed a local
severe weather preparedness plan to help limit casualties and property losses from
destructive storms. For their planning and awareness, the city of Hattiesburg
has been honored by the Jackson, MS National Weather Service forecast office as
the newest Storm
Ready community
in the NWS Jackson, MS county forecast area.

ceremony in Hattiesburg, MS. Pictured from left to right are

Warning Coordination Meteorologist Jim Butch
was also present at the ceremony, and he joined Stefkovich in officially
presenting the Storm Ready certificate to Hattiesburg Mayor, Ed Morgan.
