The choices for a SEPTEMBER WINNER were very limited with only one storm recommended for the month. It occurred on the 21st over southeastern Washington county at about 745pm. This rather isolated storm peaked with VILs only of 31 kg/m*m due to the elevated 50-60 dBz core reaching just 32,000 feet. A weak shear environment also prevented this storm from being sustained more than about 10 to 20 minutes(what we term a pulse-severe storm). These type of storms result from High CAPE/Low Shear environments which are most common during the warm season. In this case the CAPE was 3000-3500 J/kg. A weak circulation was noted in the Storm Relative Velocity images and by the Cell Table Analysis. Since the storm remained over rural areas, no severe weather reports were relayed to our office.
