This month was very dry with no storms meeting our criteria for selection. Since the hurricane season became so active in the second half of the season, we thought a couple of hurricane satellite photos with color-enhanced colder cloud tops would be appropriate. These two storms occurred about 1 month apart and were probably the two most destructive storms of the 1998 season. Fortunately for Mississippians, only Georges brushed the coast while turning northeastward. Meanwhile, Mitch wreaked havoc in Central America after surpassing the lowest pressures recorded from our infamous 1969 Mississippi storm named Camille.
