Our NOVEMBER WINNER occurred about 45 miles southeast of the radar as Tornadic Vortex Signature(TVS) was detected early in the morning of the 11th near Mt. Olive in Covington County. The 4-Panel image below reflects a typical problem with strong thunderstorms in the Gulf Coast region during the cooler season of the year. A low instability and high shear environment produces rotating mini-supercells and sometimes these F2-F3 type of tornadoes. The Mesocyclone depth reached 21,000 feet with a Shear Value of 38(e-3/s). These images also pointed out the need to use higher resolution velocity imagery(.27nm vs. .54nm in this case).
