Here's the JUNE WINNER that occurred in southern Yazoo County on the afternoon of the 15th only 30 miles northwest of the radar. This storm was a relatively rare Supercell for this time of year and followed on the heels of severe thunderstorms that crossed north Mississippi about 12 hours earlier. The VILS exceeded 75 kg/m*m as 55dBz returns reached 45,000 feet while most of the stronger tilted rotation remained above 15,000 feet(as seen in the 6-panel Base Velocity View below). While the circulation was quite broad in this storm, one of our big challenges continues to be making the determination of if/when these circulations will spin down to the ground. Numerous reports of golfball-sized hail along with downed large tree limbs came into our office from this storm.
