Our JANUARY WINNER occurred near Hattiesburg about 75 miles southeast of the radar as an operator defined (TVS) was detected late in the afternoon of the 26th in Lamar and Forrest Counties. The 4-Panel image below reflects one of several volume scans where the VILs exceeded 45 kg/m*m and peaked at 52 kg/m*m(upper left quadrant) as baseball-sized hail was reported. The Mesocyclone was only reported as an uncorrelated shear since it was identified only on the lowest elevation angle.
