Our DECEMBER WINNER occurred about 70 miles southeast of the radar on the 12th as well-developed right-moving Supercell crossed Jasper and Clarke Counties at mid afternoon. This storm caused both of our Hail Algorithms to reach 100% certainty and indeed hail at least the size of Golfballs was reported near the edge of the storm track. The VILs were also very impressive for a cool season storm as they peaked at 61 kg/m*m with Echo Tops only around 41,000 feet. This case is another example of relatively low-topped severe convection that Mississippi sees during the cooler months of the year.
