The Zone Forecasts
The foundation of the public forecasts provided by this office
are the Zone Forecasts. Each county (or parish)
is an individual zone for which a forecast for the next two days is
issued two times daily with the exception of updates. In actual practice, the counties are
lumped together in flexible groupings to form areas of any number of
counties or parishes with the same current forecast. It would not
be practical to write a individual forecast for each county, so areas
with similar expected weather are lumped together. These groupings
of counties and parishes are adjusted in coverage with each forecast cycle to
correspond with current and expected weather.
