
Washington/Bolivar/Sunflower Straight Line Winds

Event Summary A supercell thunderstorm caused a series of downbursts along its north flank from the east side of Leland to southeast of Shaw near the Frazier community. The most intense damage occurred on the east side of Leland where a large awning was blown from the back to the front parking lot of a restaurant, several large trees were blown onto homes, and shingle damage occurred to several houses. Similar intensity of damage also occurred along Highway 448 southeast of Shaw, near the Frazier community, where several wooden power poles were downed and shingle damage occurred to some homes. In between these two locations, a few spots with downed trees were observed. |
