Severe Weather Event - November 10-11, 2002

...ADDITIONAL DAMAGE INFORMATION FROM SUNDAY NIGHT STORMS...

...ALL TIMES AND DAMAGE DESCRIPTIONS IN THIS STATEMENT ARE 
PRELIMINARY...

...LOWNDES COUNTY...
AFTER COORDINATING WITH EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS ON DAMAGE 
REPORTS...AND EXTENSIVE EXAMINATION OF RADAR INFORMATION...THE NWS 
HAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A THIRD TORNADO TRACK IN LOWNDES 
COUNTY ON SUNDAY NIGHT.  THIS TORNADO WAS IN ADDITION TO THE TORNADO 
THAT PRODUCED F3 DAMAGE IN COLUMBUS...AND THE TORNADO WHICH PRODUCED 
F1 DAMAGE IN SOUTHERN LOWNDES COUNTY AND CAUSED A FATALITY NEAR 
CRAWFORD.

THIS TORNADO APPEARS TO HAVE INTIALLY DEVELOPED 2 MILES SOUTHWEST OF 
NEW HOPE AROUND 736 PM. THE TORNADO MOVED NORTHEAST AND EXITED 
LOWNDES COUNTY AT APPROXIMATELY 742 PM ABOUT 3 MILES EAST NORTHEAST 
OF NEW HOPE. THE TOTAL PATH LENGTH WAS 5 MILES...THE WIDTH WAS 400 
YARDS...AND THE DAMAGE WAS RATED AS F1.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HAS ALSO BEEN DETERMINED ON THE STORM THAT 
TRACKED THROUGH SOUTHERN LOWNDES COUNTY AND CAUSED A FATALITY NEAR 
CRAWFORD. THIS STORM MOVED INTO LOWNDES COUNTY 2 MILES WEST OF 
CRAWFORD AT APPROXIMATELY 745 PM. THE TORNADO TRACKED THROUGH 
LOWNDES COUNTY FOR 27 MILES...EXITING MISSISSIPPI FOUR AND A HALF 
MILES MILES SOUTHEAST OF NEW HOPE ABOUT 814 PM. THE TORNADO WAS 400 
YARDS WIDE AT ITS WIDEST POINT. THE PRELIMINARY DAMAGE RATING FOR 
THIS TORNADO WAS F1 ON THE FUJITA SCALE.

...MADISON COUNTY...
AN NWS SURVEY TEAM WAS DISPATCHED THIS AFTERNOON TO SURVEY DAMAGE 
WHICH OCCURRED ALONG THE NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY...ABOUT 7 MILES 
SOUTHEAST OF CANTON. THEY FOUND THAT A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT THIS 
SPOT. THIS LIKELY OCCURRED AROUND 834 PM SUNDAY EVENING. THE PATH 
WIDTH OF THIS TORNADO WAS 50 YARDS AND THE LENGTH WAS 2 MILES. THE 
DAMAGE WAS RATED AS F1.
