Outdoor activities such as soccer and golf are particularly major concerns when it comes to lightning safety, as highlighted by these nationally-distributed posters. More information is available at the national lightning safety page.


The National Weather Service has designated June 22-28, 2008 as Lightning Safety Awareness Week to highlight the dangers posed by the millions of lightning strikes recorded every year. Each day will focus on a different aspect of lightning safety and information:
