Storm Reports By County

Here is a look at reports we have received across the Tennessee Valley in association with Tropical Storm Ivan. Click on a county for details of the reports in that area. Blue dots indicate locations where wind damage was reported, green dots indicate where heavy rain or flooding was reported, and red dots indicate locations where a funnel cloud was reported.

Colbert County
11:50 AM - Trees were reported down.
2:31 PM - A tree fell on a car in Tuscumbia.
2:35 PM - Trees and power lines down in the Muscle Shoals area.
3:00 PM - A road was closed due to downed trees northeast of Muscle Shoals.
5:59 PM - Numerous trees were reported down in Tuscumbia, and a roof was blown off a mobile home.
6:30 PM - Widespread reports of trees down and damage to power lines mainly across the eastern part of the county.
6:38 PM - According to EMA officials, trees were falling "every 10 minutes."
7:24 PM - Yet another tree fell on a car in Tuscumbia.
8:00 PM - Several inches of water over County Line Road in the southeast corner of the county. There was also flooding along several county roads north of Leighton.


Cullman County
2:00 PM - Trees and power lines were reported down.
4:30 PM - Low spots were flooded on County Road 8 in the southwest part of the county. Several areas were flooded on County Road 1718 near Holly Pond.
5:52 PM - Four inches of rain was reported in Hanceville.


DeKalb County
10:56 AM - Trees were reported down at College Street and Union Grove.
11:10 AM - 12 trees were reported down in Crossville, one which fell on a house along Alabama Highway 68.
1:30 PM - Numerous trees were reported down between Crossville and Collinsville.
5:44 PM - Trees were reported down, 2.6" of rain had fallen, and power was out on County Road 86.
6:22 PM - Trees were reported down at Desoto State Park.
8:00 PM - There were several inches of water over several roads in the city of Fort Payne.
9:00 PM - Big Wills Creek was reported out of its bank and threatening some businesses.
12:00 AM - Flooding continued in Fort Payne with water across several roads in the city.
1:00 AM - Flooding was reported in Desoto State Park, with creeks out of their banks inundating the roadway.


Franklin County (Alabama)
2:30 PM - Trees were reported down across the county, and power lines were reported down near Hodges.
10:00 PM - There were several inches of water over County Road 80 in the Tharptown area. Also in the Tharptown area, several trees were blown down.


Franklin County (Tennessee)
9:50 PM - Trees and power lines were downed throughout the county. Widespread power outages were reported.
11:00 PM - A few trees were blown down due to high winds, especially in the Estill Springs and Winchester areas. Several power lines were also downed, and many homes were without power as a result.
11:15 PM - A small bridge near Cowan was flooded.
1:00 AM - A small bridge in the Cowan area had several inches of water over it. Tennessee Highway 96 was flooded near Huntland. Several more trees were blown down due to high winds, including the Winchester and Huntland areas.


Jackson County
2:35 PM - Trees were reported down, and several power outages were reported.
3:18 PM - A wall cloud was reported northeast of Pisgah.
5:24 PM - Power outages were reported east of Scottsboro.
6:30 PM - A tree fell on a house in Skyline.
1:00 AM - Water was over several roads in the Paint Rock area, including along Highway 72.


Lauderdale County
5:45 PM - A large tree was down on Alabama Highway 157 a mile north of Florence.
8:00 PM - A tree fell on a car on Alabama Highway 207 in Anderson, killing the driver. A passenger in the car was uninjured. Also, several roads across the county, especially in the Florence and Killen areas, were closed due to flooding. Some of the roads closed included Harrington, Oxford, Lingerlost, and the Coffee Road underpass to Alabama Highway 20.
8:05 PM - A vehicle veered off Alabama Highway 207 in Anderson to avoid the same tree mentioned in the above report. Both occupants of the car were injured. Also, three county roads in the Killen area reportedly had several inches of water over them.
8:45 PM - A large oak tree fell on an 18 wheeler, totaling it and spilling 135 gallons of diesel on Alabama Highway 20, about 15 miles northwest of Florence where the incident took place. The driver of the truck was injured.


Lawrence County
11:15 AM - Two to three trees were blown down.
4:45 PM - Power outages were reported across the entire county.
6:30 PM - Approximately 100 trees were reported down across the county.
6:45 PM - Trees were reported down on 5 houses across the county - 2 in Moulton, 2 in Hatton, and 1 in Courtland.


Limestone County
4:45 PM - A wind gust to 43 MPH was reported near Greenbrier.
4:55 PM - Numerous tres and power lines were reported down, and several home were without power in the Athens area.
1:35 AM - There were several reports of trees and power lines down across the entire county.


Lincoln County
5:00 PM - Several trees were blown down due to high winds.
6:25 PM - An 18" diameter tree was reported down in Flintville.
6:45 PM - A 56 MPH wind gust was observed at the County EOC.
6:50 PM - Over a dozen trees were reported down and power outages were reported.
10:00 PM - Several trees were blown down due to high winds, especially around Fayetteville.


Madison County
4:15 PM - Cypress tree down on Michili Road in Madison.
4:45 PM - A cluster of trees were reported down along I-565.
4:50 PM - Power lines were reported down and transformers were on fire in Harvest.
4:55 PM - Water was reported over the road at Subway on Nick Davis Road in Harvest.
5:47 PM - Trees were reported down at the corner of Wall Triana Highway and Mills Road.
5:55 PM - Water was reported over the road at Moores Mill Road and Winchester Road.
6:35 PM - Low Gap Road was reported to be under water and closed. Also, several other roads were under water.
10:00 PM - A few Huntsville area roads had several inches of water over them.


Marshall County
8:40 AM - Wind gusts of 20-25 MPH were reported around Arab and Albertville.
11:45 AM - Power lines were downed in Arab.
2:00 PM - Trees and power lines were reported down across the county. 2" of rain was reported in Albertville.
2:10 PM - A funnel cloud was reported near Albertville High School.
3:00 PM - A mobile home was severely damaged in Albertville.
3:40 PM - A chicken house was destroyed in Boaz.
4:00 PM - There was minor damage to a factory outlet building in Boaz. In Guntersville, a building was severely damaged downtown.
5:39 PM - 4.35" of rain was reported in Albertville. 3" of rain and a 48 MPH wind gust was reported in Arab.
6:24 PM - A tree fell on a house in Albertville.
12:00 AM - Two roads and a bridge in the Arab area were covered with several inches of water. In the Horton area, there were three roads and a bridge under several inches of water.
1:35 AM - A bridge along Alabama Highway 75 near Albertville was slightly flooded with a few inches of water over it. A road in Arab was barracaded and closed due to flooding.


Moore County
5:00 PM - A few trees were blown down due to high winds.
9:50 PM - Trees and power lines were reported down in the Lynchburg area. There were also numerous power outages.
10:00 PM - A few more trees were blown down due to high winds.


Morgan County
8:10 AM - A tree was down across Lawrence Cove Road.
8:45 AM - Trees were reported down at 364 Lawrence COve Road in Eva.
12:10 PM - A couple of trees and power lines were down in the Brindley Mountain area.
3:30 PM - Trees were reported down countywide.
4:00 PM - A tree split and fell on a car, injuring three passengers on Old Moulton Road.
8:00 PM - Several inches of water was over roads in the Laceys Spring area.
12:00 AM - There were still several inches of water over roads in the Laceys Spring area.
1:35 AM - Flooding continued in the Laceys Spring area.
