Outdoor activities such as soccer and golf are particularly major concerns when it comes to lightning safety, as highlighted by these nationally-distributed posters. More information is available at the national lightning safety page.

The National Weather Service has designated June 19-25, 2011, as Lightning Safety Awareness Week to highlight the dangers posed by the millions of lightning strikes recorded every year. Some days will focus on a different aspect of lightning safety and information:

There are a number of brochures, posters, games, and other activities available to increase awareness of lightning safety:
