IN COORDINATION WITH WFO BIRMINGHAM...THE FOLLOWING DAMAGE SURVEY WAS
CONDUCTED ON JANUARY 31:
THE TORNADO BEGAN IN WINSTON COUNTY (WFO BIRMINGHAM)...TOUCHING
DOWN JUST NORTH OF ADDISON (ALONG COUNTY ROAD 41 JUST NORTH OF HUNTER
ROAD) WITH WINDS OF 70-80 MPH SNAPPING SOFTWOOD TREES. THE TORNADO
TRACKED EAST-NORTHEAST AND DESTROYED A SMALL AIRPLANE HANGAR AT THE
ADDISON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. AS IT TRACKED PARALLEL TO COUNTY ROAD
14...IT CONTINUED TO SNAP TREE TRUNKS AND REMOVED PART OF A ROOF FROM
A RESIDENCE JUST PAST COUNTY ROAD 130. PORTIONS OF A METAL ROOF WERE
UPLIFTED FROM AN OUTBUILDING ALONG COUNTY ROAD 3725...ALSO CAUSING
MINOR TREE DAMAGE. THE TORNADO CONTINUED EAST NORTHEAST...CROSSING
INTO CULLMAN COUNTY (WFO HUNTSVILLE) JUST SOUTH OF COUNTY ROAD 1043
CAUSING MINOR TREE DAMAGE AND DESTROYING A BARN ON COUNTY ROAD 1038.
THE TORNADO STRENGTHENED TO AN EF1 WITH WINDS OF 90 MPH AND DESTROYED
A MOBILE HOME ALONG COUNTY ROAD 1043 JUST EAST OF COUNTY ROAD 1038.
THE TORNADO CONTINUED EAST NORTHEAST...LIFTING NEAR COUNTY ROAD 1047.
