. 2009 Houston/Galveston Hurricane Workshop
The 2009 hurricane season is here! The Houston/Galveston National Weather Service Office held its 2009 Hurricane Workshop on Saturday, May 30th at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. As always, admission was free and open to the public. Thanks for all who made it out to the workshop, and we hope to see you again next year. For those interested, the keynote speaker's powerpoint presentation is available here, and the workshop booklet is available here.

Of the many threats to residents of Southeast Texas, perhaps the most recognized is the Tropical Cyclone. Below is a list of some information regarding this menace.

.Hurricane Forecasting

While forecasting in itself is hard enough, forecasting hurricanes is by far more difficult. The intrepid Dr. William Gray of Colorado State University endeavors to do so. He and his team of researchers publishes a forecast and an updated forecast every year on what they think is going to happen. Here's the latest from Dr Gray, et al.
