Daily Historical Weather for May 25

A squall line approached Southeast Texas during the evening. Some of the storms in the line produced wind damage. The line slowed as it approached Harris and Fort Bend counties. Extrememly heavy rain developed during the mid evening. Parts of southwest Harris county and northeast Fort bend County received over 10 inches of rain during this event. Over 3000 homes and over 1500 automobiles were flooded during this event. Sugar Land reported 10.17 inches of rain and Houston Westbury recorded 7.36 inches of rain during this event.


Daily Historical Weather for May 25

Heavy rain on this date in 1997 produced significant flooding over parts of Harris County. 50 to 75 homes flooded and numerous bayous were out of banks. A water rescue was required to save the lives of two people swept away in the flood waters near White Oak Bayou. Houston Heights measured 5.07 inches of rain and the Barker Reservoir reported 4.28 inches of rain during this weather event.
