           ...JUNE TEMPERATURES REMAIN ABOVE NORMAL...

                ...RAINFALL TOTALS BELOW NORMAL...

IN WHAT IS NOW A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE...AVERAGE MONTHLY
TEMPERATURES WERE ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE
WAS BETWEEN 0.9 AND 2.5 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE 30 YEAR NORMALS.
TEMPERATURES WERE GENERALLY NEAR NORMAL VALUES THROUGH THE MIDDLE
OF THE MONTH BUT A SHORT TERM HEAT WAVE DURING THE SECOND HALF OF
THE MONTH PROPELLED THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURES ABOVE
NORMAL. THE CITY OF GALVESTON TIED FOR IT`S FIFTH WARMEST JUNE ON
RECORD AND HOUSTON HOBBY AIRPORT TIED FOR IT`S SIXTH WARMEST JUNE
ON RECORD.

THE CITY OF GALVESTON REACHED 100 DEGREES ON THE 25TH OF JUNE.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME GALVESTON HAS RECORDED A 100 DEGREE
TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE AND ONLY THE EIGHTH TIME IN
WEATHER RECORDS HISTORY THAT THE 100 DEGREE BARRIER HAS BEEN
REACHED. PALACIOS ALSO RECORDED IT`S FIRST 100 DEGREE DAY IN THE
MONTH OF JUNE. PALACIOS RECORDED A TEMPERATURE OF 103 DEGREES ON
JUNE 26TH AND THIS WAS THE THIRD WARMEST TEMPERATURE EVER
RECORDED AT THIS LOCATION. NOT TO BE OUT DONE...THE CITY OF
HOUSTON RECORDED A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 105 DEGREES ON JUNE 25TH
AND THIS TIES FOR THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED IN JUNE.
THIS RECORD WAS ESTABLISHED ON JUNE 5TH AND 6TH OF LAST YEAR.
HOUSTON HOBBY TIED IT`S WARMEST EVER JUNE TEMPERATURE WHEN THE
MERCURY ROSE TO 102 DEGREES ON JUNE 25TH AND JUNE 26TH. COLLEGE
STATION TIED IT`S SECOND WARMEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE
WHEN THE THERMOMETER CLIMBED TO 106 DEGREES ON THE 26TH.

IF IT`S ANY CONSOLATION...JUNE OF 2011 WAS THE WARMEST JUNE ON
RECORD FOR SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND WAS QUITE A BIT WARMER THAN JUNE
2012. JUNE 2012 CONTAINED FEWER 100 DEGREE DAYS (3) THAN 2011 (6)
BUT STILL CONTAINED MORE THAN TYPICALLY OCCURS DURING THE MONTH
(AVG 0.4 DAYS (1981-2010)). THE MONTH ALSO CONTAINED FIVE DAYS
WITH THE HIGH TEMPERATURE REMAINING BELOW 90 DEGREES. THERE WAS
ONLY ONE SUCH DAY DURING JUNE OF 2012 (AVERAGE IS 8.6 DAYS
(1981-2010)). BELOW IS A TABLE THAT COMPARES JUNE 2011 AND JUNE

YEAR TO DATE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES ARE THE STILL WARMEST ON RECORD

RAINFALL ACROSS THE REGION VARIED QUITE A BIT WITH LIGHTER TOTALS
NEAR THE COAST AND HEAVIER TOTALS OVER THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE
REGION. CONROE REPORTED THE HIGHEST RAINFALL TOTAL FOR THE MONTH
WITH OVER SEVEN INCHES OF RAIN AND THE LOWEST TOTAL WAS AT
ANGLETON-LAKE JACKSON WITH LESS THAN AN INCH OF RAIN REPORTED.
RAINFALL HAS BEEN FAR MORE ABUNDANT IN 2012...ESPECIALLY IF
COMPARED TO LAST YEAR. THE CITY OF HOUSTON ONLY RECEIVED 2.83
INCHES OF RAIN BETWEEN FEBRUARY 1ST AND JUNE 30TH 2011. IN 2012...
THE CITY OF HOUSTON RECEIVED 22.14 INCHES OF RAIN DURING THE SAME
FIVE MONTH PERIOD.
