...NATIONAL TEST OF THE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TO OCCUR AT 1 PM
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 9TH 2011...

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL CONDUCT THE FIRST EVER...NATIONWIDE
TEST OF THE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM...OR EAS... AT 1 PM ON WEDNESDAY
NOVEMBER 9TH. THE PURPOSE OF THE TEST IS TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS
AND RELIABILITY OF EAS TO ALERT THE ENTIRE COUNTRY DURING A NATIONWIDE
EMERGENCY.

THE TEST WILL ONLY LAST FOR THIRTY SECONDS. THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS
COMMISSION AND THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY WILL INITIATE
THE TEST FROM WASHINGTON D.C. TO SIMULATE THE PRESIDENTS ISSUANCE OF
AN EMERGENCY ACTION NOTIFICATION MESSAGE FOR A NATIONAL EMERGENCY...SUCH
AS A NUCLEAR ATTACK...TERRORIST INCIDENT...OR A NATIONAL DISASTER. THE
PRESIDENTS VOICE WILL NOT BE BROADCAST DURING THE NOVEMBER 9TH TEST.

FCC RULES REQUIRE ALL RADIO...TV...CABLE AND SATELLITE SYSTEMS NATIONWIDE
TO IMMEDIATELY INTERRUPT THEIR REGULAR PROGRAMMING TO BROADCAST NATIONAL
EAN MESSAGES AND TESTS. THEREFORE THOSE WATCHING TV OR LISTENING TO
THE RADIO CAN EXPECT TO SEE AND HEAR THE TEST AT 1 PM WEDNESDAY.

THIS NATIONAL EAST TEST WILL NOT BE CARRIED BY NOAA WEATHER RADIO. TO
AVOID CONFUSION...THE NORMAL WEDNESDAY NOAA WEATHER RADIO TEST
WILL BE CONDUCTED ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 8TH.
