                ...DROUGHT CONDITIONS PERSIST...

DRY CONDITIONS PREVAILED OVER SOUTHEAST TEXAS DURING MARCH. MOST
LOCATIONS RECEIVED LESS THAN AN INCH OF RAIN DURING THE MONTH.
GALVESTON RECEIVED THE MOST RAIN DURING MARCH WITH A MONTHLY TOTAL
OF 2.70 INCHES. THE LOWEST RAINFALL TOTAL WAS IN HUNTSVILLE WITH
0.07 INCHES OF RAIN FOR THE MONTH. DROUGHT CONDITIONS HAVE
INTENSIFIED ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND EXTREME DROUGHT CONDITIONS
CONTINUED FOR AREAS NORTH OF I-10 WITH SEVERE DROUGHT CONDITIONS
SOUTH OF I-10. INTERIOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS HAVE BEEN QUITE
DRY FOR THE LAST NINE WEEKS. HERE ARE THE TWO MONTH RAINFALL TOTALS

TEMPERATURES WERE QUITE WARM DURING THE MONTH AND AVERAGE
TEMPERATURES WERE 4 TO 5 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE 30 YEAR NORMALS.
SINCE CONDITIONS WERE WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL...THE ONLY
HAZARDOUS INCIDENTS WERE WILDFIRES. SEVERAL WILDFIRES OCCURRED
DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH. HOUSTON HOBBY AIRPORT TIED FOR
IT`S THIRD WARMEST MARCH ON RECORD AND ALSO TIED FOR IT`S SIXTH
DRIEST MARCH. COLLEGE STATION TIED FOR ITS NINTH DRIEST MARCH. THE
CITY OF HOUSTON HAD ITS 11TH DRIEST MARCH.
