          ...SEPTEMBER 2010 WAS WARMER THAN NORMAL...

       ...SEPTEMBER RAINFALL VARIED ACROSS THE REGION...

SEPTEMBER CONTINUED A TREND OF MONTHLY TEMPERATURES WARMER THAN
THE 30 YEAR CLIMATOLOGICAL AVERAGE. MOST SITES ACROSS SOUTHEAST
TEXAS EXPERIENCED AVERAGE TEMPERATURES 1 TO 2 DEGREES WARMER THAN
NORMAL. THERE WERE NO RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES BUT THE TREND OF
UNUSUALLY WARM OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES PERSISTED. GALVESTON
RECORDED A LOW TEMPERATURE OF 84 DEGREES ON THE 8TH WHICH TIES FOR
THE WARMEST OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER.

RAINFALL VARIED GREATLY ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS WITH THE HEAVIER
TOTALS CONFINED TO THE SOUTHWEST PORTION OF THE REGION.
CONSIDERABLY DRIER CONDITIONS CONTINUED TO PLAGUE THE NORTHEASTERN
HALF OF THE REGION WITH SEVERAL COUNTIES ISSUING BURN BANS.
SEVERAL COMMUNITIES OVER THE SOUTHWEST PART OF THE AREA RECEIVED
OVER TEN INCHES OF RAIN DURING THE MONTH WHILE COMMUNITIES OVER
THE NORTHEAST RECEIVED LESS THAN THREE INCHES OF RAIN. COLLEGE
STATION REPORTED A 24 HOUR RAINFALL RECORD ON THE 7TH WITH 2.17
INCHES OF RAIN.
