     ...JULY 2010 RAINFALL VARIED ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS...

        ...JULY TEMPERATURES WERE NEAR NORMAL LEVELS...

RAINFALL WAS HEAVY ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS DURING JULY.
THE HEAVIEST RAIN DURING THE MONTH FELL DURING THE FIRST HALF OF
THE MONTH AND WAS CONFINED TO AREAS CLOSER TO THE COAST. HEAVY
RAIN ON THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF THE MONTH BROUGHT FLOODING TO
COMMUNITIES LIKE WEST COLUMBIA AND HOLIDAY LAKES. HEAVY RAIN ALSO
BROUGHT FLOODING TO THE CITY OF HOUSTON ON JULY 2ND AND MANY
WATERSHEDS BRIEFLY CAME OUT OF BANKS DURING THE HEAVY RAIN.
HOUSTON INTERCONTINENTAL AND HOBBY AIRPORT ESTABLISHED RAINFALL
RECORDS ON JULY 2ND. INTERCONTINENTAL AIRPORT ALSO ESTABLISHED
THREE NEW DAILY RAINFALL RECORDS DURING THE MONTH. INTERCONTINENTAL
AIRPORT RECORDED 12.92 INCHES OF RAIN DURING JULY. THIS IS THE
FOURTH WETTEST JULY IN CITY HISTORY. HOBBY AIRPORT RECORDED 12.77
INCHES WHICH IS THE THIRD WETTEST JULY ON RECORD. THERE WERE 15 DAYS
DURING JULY WITH MEASURABLE RAIN AT IAH. THE NORMAL NUMBER OF DAYS
WITH MEASURABLE RAIN DURING JULY IS 8. THE HIGHEST MONTHLY
RAINFALL TOTAL ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS WAS RECORDED IN HOUSTON
HEIGHTS WITH 18.54 INCHES. THE LOWEST TOTAL ACROSS THE AREA WAS
1.23 INCHES AT COLLEGE STATION. CLIMATE SITES ALONG THE HIGHWAY 59
CORRIDOR RECORDED DOUBLE DIGIT RAINFALL TOTALS DURING THE MONTH.
TEMPERATURES WERE GENERALLY NEAR THE 30 YEAR NORMALS DUE TO ABUNDANT
RAINFALL AND CLOUD COVER. THE RAIN DIMINISHED TOWARD THE END OF
THE MONTH WITH UPPER LEVEL RIDGING BUILDING INTO THE STATE.
TEMPERATURES RESPONDED TO THE BUILDING RIDGE BY WARMING TO NEAR 100
DEGREES INLAND AND THE MID 90S NEAR THE COAST.
