...HOT TEMPERATURES PERSIST ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS...

...COLLEGE STATION HAS LONGEST CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF 100 DEGREE HEAT
FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE...

...HOUSTON AVERAGE TEMPERATURE NOW WARMER THAN 1980...

TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT HAS PLAGUED MUCH OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS OVER THE
LAST WEEK. THE MONTH IS NOT OVER YET...SO MUCH CAN CHANGE. AT THE
CURRENT TIME...HOUSTON IS SUFFERING THROUGH IT`S 2ND WARMEST
JUNE. JUNE 2009 IS NOW WARMER THAN THE JUNE OF 1980 AND ONLY
TRAILS THE BRUTAL JUNE OF 1998 BY 0.1 DEGREES. AT HOBBY
AIRPORT...THIS IS ALSO THE 4TH WARMEST JUNE. GALVESTON IS
ENDURING IT`S 5TH WARMEST JUNE AND COLLEGE STATION IS ENDURING
IT`S 4TH WARMEST JUNE. TO PUT THIS IN PERSPECTIVE...THE FIRST
SEVEN DAYS OF JUNE WERE COOLER THAN NORMAL SO THE INTENSE HEAT
OVER THE LAST 21 DAYS HAS MADE UP THE TEMPERATURE DEFICIT WITH
CHANGE TO SPARE. THIS LATEST HEATWAVE SHOWS NO SIGN OF RELENTING
SO THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WILL LIKELY INCREASE.

COLLEGE STATION HAS REACHED OR EXCEEDED 100 DEGREES TEN TIMES
DURING JUNE 2009...INCLUDING THE LAST NINE CONSECUTIVE DAYS. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD FOR MOST CONSECUTIVE 100 DEGREE DAYS IN JUNE WAS
EIGHT AND THIS OCCURRED BETWEEN JUNE 13 1996 AND JUNE 20 1996.

BETWEEN JULY 29 1917 AND AUGUST 23 1917. THAT IS THE LONGEST

DAYS DURING JUNE FOR COLLEGE STATION WAS 13 DAYS AND THIS OCCURRED
IN 1925. THERE WERE 11 100 DEGREE DAYS BACK JUNE OF 1998 AND 1948.

THE TEMPERATURE CLIMBED TO 104 DEGREES AT INTERCONTINENTAL
AIRPORT ON JUNE 24TH AND AGAIN ON THE 26TH. THIS IS THE WARMEST
TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED IN THE MONTH OF JUNE AND IS ALSO A NEW
DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORD. THE LAST TIME THE MERCURY SOARED TO 104
DEGREES WAS ON AUGUST 7TH 2003. THE LAST TIME HOUSTON RECORDED 6
CONSECUTIVE 100 DEGREE DAYS WAS AUGUST 31 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 5 2000.
