SENDING IN YOUR FISCHER-PORTER TAPES

All tapes should be sent on the first day of the new month but no later than the 5th of the new month. Addressed, padded, and stamped envelopes are provided to you to help with this process and ensure quick processing. As soon as we receive all of the tapes, we mail them to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) where they process and archive the tapes. These records from the tapes then get published in various formats for all types of use including governmental, agriculture, public and private uses. On time submission of tapes ensures a timely flow of information to NCDC so that they can proceed with their processing and archiving and produce a quality product for publication.

If you find that you are out of stamped envelopes, almost out of stamped envelopes, or need more postage (as stamp prices increase), please contact us immediately, and we will get the necessary supplies to you.  See the "Requesting Supplies" section for more information.
