Local Storm Reports

(LSR, WWUS30)

Definition

Local Storm Reports (LSR) relay observations about severe or other very significant events (tornadoes, hail, heavy rainfall, damaging wind, etc.) to the media, emergency management and adjacent NWS offices. LSR's provide documentation of severe weather events not otherwise documented in severe weather or flood/flash flood warnings, severe weather/flash flood statements, short term forecasts. They are also issued as close to real time as possible and include...
  • type of phenomena,
  • date/time of occurrence,
  • location of event, including state, county, direction and distance (in statute miles) from a well known site,
  • source of report,
  • damage, deaths, and/or injuries (if any), and
  • any other useful information
