Non-Precipitation Weather Watch(NPW, WWUS74)
A watch is issued when hazardous weather conditions are favorable for development over part or all of the forecast area, but the occurrence is still uncertain. Generally, watches are issued around 12 to 24 hours in advance of the event. They may be continued from a previous forecast if it is still uncertain the event will occur. Watches are reissued whenever there is a change in the timing, areal extent, or expected conditions.
The watch provides the following information...
- The area affected,
- Reason for the watch,
- Potential impact,
- Explanation of a watch and uncertainty, and
- Precautions/calls to action.
Watches either evolve into warnings or advisories, or they are canceled.
