Non-Precipitation Weather Warning(NPW, WWUS74)
Non-precipitation hazard warning is issued when hazardous weather is occurring, imminent, or highly likely over part or all of the forecast area. Warnings are normally issued for the 0 to 12 hours but can be extended beyond 12 hours if the event is expected to continue. Warnings are reissued whenever there is a change to the timing, areal extent, or expected conditions.
The warning provides details about the following...
- Area and time affected,
- Potential wind speeds and heat index, worst conditions, general impact, etc.,
- Timing of events beginning, ending, peaking, weakening,
- Reasons for the warning,
- Warning definition, and
- Simple precautions/calls to action.
Whenever warnings are in effect, Special Weather Statements will be issued include the current warning information, updated weather details, and call to action statements. Severe Weather Statements may be used to highlight life-threatening conditions.

OF NORTH TEXAS. SUSTAINED WINDS WERE NEAR 40 MILES PER HOUR AT SEVERAL
LOCATIONS...WITH GUSTS OF 64 MILES PER HOUR RECORDED AT EASTLAND. THE
HIGH WIND WARNING IS WEST OF A BONHAN...DALLAS...TEMPLE LINE. INCLUDED
ARE THE CITIES OF SHERMAN...DALLAS FORT WORTH...AND WACO. SUSTAINED
WINDS OF NEAR 40 MILES PER HOUR WILL BE COMMON TODAY AND TONIGHT ACROSS
THE WARNING AREA...AND WIND GUSTS MAY APPROACH 70 MILES PER HOUR.
SECURE ALL LOOSE OBJECTS SUCH AS TRASH CANS AND LAWN FURNITURE THAT MAY
BE BLOWN ABOUT BY HIGH WINDS. TREE AND POWER LINES WILL LIKELY BE
DOWNED BY THE WINDS...SO EXTREME CAUTION SHOULD BE EXERCISED WHEN
VENTURING OUT DOORS. TRAVEL WILL BE VERY HAZARDOUS...ESPECIALLY IN HIGH
PROFILE VEHICLES.
