Non-Precipitation Weather
Rain and snow events are not the only way weather impacts North Texas. Non-precipitation events such as high wind, blowing dust, and smoke can create just as much havoc.
Any weather event that does not contain precipitation is handled by a non-precipitation weather product (NPW, WWUS45). Non-precipitation weather watches either evolve into warnings, advisories, or are canceled. An NPW is used to...
- Issue the initial warning, watch, or advisory,
- Change the type of warning, watch, or advisory,
- Add or delete affected areas of county or state,
- Extend the cancellation time of the event,
- Update information pertaining to the warning, watch, or advisory, or
- Terminate warning, watch, or advisory.
