June


1st 1978 - AFOS (Automation of Field Operations and Services) was installed at The Weather Service Forecast Office Fort Worth and became operational October.
1964 - The low temperature of 52°F Waco is a record for the month of June.
1903 - The low temperature of 48°F Fort Worth is a record for the month of June.
2nd 1954 - F3 tornado moved across Lamar and Delta Counties killing one person.
1883 - F2 tornado killed one person Hunt County.
3rd 1889 - A severe thunderstorm across the Dallas/Fort Worth area was described as "the worst ever seen".
4th 1954 - A late spring cold front brought record low temperatures of 53°F to Dallas and 54°F to Fort Worth.
5th 1961 - The highest one minute average wind speed on record was observed Waco. The one minute average was 81 mph.
6th 1970 - A late season cold front brought record low temperatures the mid and upper 50s across North Texas.
7th 1989 - Severe thunderstorms produced baseball size hail, high winds and flash flooding across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
8th 1925 - Dallas reported 2.27" of rain 40 minutes.
1917 - A severe thunderstorm produced wind gusts to 72 mph in Dallas.
9th 1977 - The first yearly occurence of a high of 100°F or more Waco.
10th 1939 - F5 tornado killed 14 people in Callahan County.
1909 - F2 tornado killed 6 people in Haskell County.
11th 1979 - A late season cold front brought a record low temperature to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
12th 1945 - F2 tornado killed one person in Henderson County.
13th 1941 - The Trinity River Dallas crested at 41 feet, which was the highest stage 35 years.
14th 1895 - Grapevine had 2½" to 3" of rain.
15th 1935 - F2 tornado killed 2 people in Erath County.
16th 1964 - Gatesville received 8.35" of rain.
17th 1981 - A late season cold front brought a record low temperature of 58°F at DFW airport.
18th 1918 - The first yearly high of 100°F or more occurred Fort Worth.
19th 1987 - A severe thunderstorm produced wind damage at Weatherford and Benbrook.
20th 1906 - Hail, 6¾" circumference, was reported in Fort Worth, causing considerable damage.
21st 1972 - Ennis received over 4" of rain.
22nd 1959 - Up to 9" of rain fell in parts of Fort Worth, flooding underpasses and low lying areas.
23rd 1980 - This was the beginning of 42 consecutive days with a high of 100°F or more at DFW airport.
24th 1903 - Fort Worth received 1.32" of rain 40 minutes.
25th 1974 - A late season cold front caused a record low of 60°F Fort Worth.
26th 1980 - All time high temperatures were set at DFW airport of 113°F, and at Weatherford of 119°F.
1916 - Severe thunderstorms produced wind gusts to 70 mph Dallas.
27th 1980 - The all time high temperature of 113°F at DFW airport was tied. The high temperature of 109°F Waco was a record for the month of June.
28th 1980 - The high temperature at DFW airport was 112°F.
1994 - Monahans had a high temperature of 120°F, which tied the all time hottest temperature for the state of Texas.
29th 1984 - A severe thunderstorm produced 60 mph wind gusts at Cresson.
30th 1940 - The Weather Bureau was transferred to the Department of Commerce.
