February


1st 1899 - Dublin had their all time low of -9°F.
2nd 1989 - This day was the beginning of a 5 day cold wave with continuous below freezing temperatures at DFW airport.
1951 - The low at Bridgeport was 1°F above zero.
3rd 1901 - F3 tornado killed two people in Hunt and Delta Counties.
1956 - On the 3rd and 4th, Plainview had 24.0" of snow in 24 hours. This was the most snow 24 hours in Texas.
4th 1899 - February 4th was the beginning of the worst cold wave the history of Texas. This cold wave lasted until the 13th. Many all time record low temperatures were set during the period. This was the only known time Galveston bay froze over.
5th 1988 - 4" of snow fell in Bridgeport.
1986 - Severe thunderstorms produced ¾" hail, wind damage and heavy rain across southern Dallas and northern Ellis Counties.
6th 1895 - From the 6th through the 9th, 3" to 4" of snow fell across North Texas accompanied by blizzard conditions.
7th 1933 - An arctic cold front dropped temperatures in Fort Worth from 57°F at midnight to 10°F at 8 am.
8th 1935 - An F2 tornado killed 12 people Leon and Houston Counties.
1933 - The low temperature at Seminole dropped to -23°F and tied the all time low for the state of Texas.
9th 1870 - The National Weather Service began the United States. "A national weather Service" was begun the Signal Service under the department of war.
10th 1954 - A record high temperature the mid 80s in the Dallas/Fort Worth area was followed by an afternoon dust storm.
11th 1972 - NOAA weather radio was activated the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
1899 - The low temperature at Temple dropped to -4°F for an all time low.
12th 1899 - The low temperature Fort Worth dropped to -8°F for an all time low; the sea level pressure reached 31.00"Hg, which set a record for the month of February and was the 4th highest pressure on record. The low of -5°F Waco tied their all time low. The low temperature of -23°F Tulia tied the all time coldest temperature for the state of Texas.
13th 1905 - The low temperature dropped to 1°F above zero Fort Worth, which was the 4th coldest temperature on record.
14th 1951 - 8" of snow fell Denton, with 2" to 4" across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
1946 - this was the date of the last freeze in Fort Worth.
15th 1985 - This was the date of the last freeze across North Texas. 1895 - From the 12th through the 15th, 20" of snow fell southeast Texas.
16th 1903 - 8" of snow fell Bowie, with 3" to 6" across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
17th 1978 - DFW reported 8" of snow with up to 10" reported in the outlying area of the metroplex.
1910 - 2" to 6" of snow fell across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
18th 1971 - Severe thunderstorms injured 14 people living in mobile homes across 3 North Texas Counties. Twenty mobile homes were destroyed.
19th 1959 - 1" to 2" of snow fell across the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This was the most snow 8 years.
20th 1976 - Golfball size hail was reported in Azle.
21st 1996 - On the 21st and 22nd, the high both days reached 96°F in Waco, which tied a record high for the month of February.
22nd 1901 - 5" to 7" of snow fell across North Texas from Coleman, to Haskell, to Henrietta.
23rd 1968 - On the 22nd and 23rd, 2 to 3" of snow fell across North Texas.
24th 1965 - The temperature at Waco fell below 20°F for the first time during the winter of 1964-65.
25th 1929 - F2 tornadoes killed 2 people in Dallas County and 2 in Delta County.
1924 - On the 25th and 26th, Waco reported their greatest 24 hour snowfall of 13.0".
1912 - Fort Worth reported wind gusts to 74 mph.
1904 - The high temperature Fort Worth reached 96°F, which was a record for the month of February.
26th 1948 - An F2 tornado killed 2 people in Stephens County.
1945 - On the 26th and 27th, a severe ice storm occurred Fort Worth.
27th 1948 - An F1 tornado killed 1 person in Denton County.
1939 - West winds gusting to 61 mph caused a dust storm across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
28th 1961 - The last freeze of the season occurred across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
29th 1952 - Winds gusting to 51 mph caused a dust storm across Fort Worth.
