Fort Worth Radar Dual Polarization Installation Began November 12th!

The Fort Worth Spinks Doppler Radar, KFWS, has begun modernization to install new technology known as dual polarization. Installation is anticipated to take approximately one week. The radar is expected to be down until approximately Friday, November 16th.

During the down time, NWS  Fort Worth/Dallas will use surrounding radars for coverage including the terminal Doppler radars at DFW Aiport and Love Field, as well as those in Central Texas (Granger), Shreveport, Austin/San Antonio, Altus AFB near Fredrick, and Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene.
