Student Volunteer Program
requirements for HTML Programming Volunteers


High School and College Student Volunteers

The student volunteer must have strong computer skills and be very familiar with HTML.
The student volunteer must have experience with building web pages of moderate complexity, and be comfortable hand coding.

This volunteer program is designed to introduce students to the web services provided by the National Weather service, and to the processes required for making our information available online. Also, the volunteer will gain valuable experience which will allow them to stand out when applying for future career opportunities.

Please understand that this is NOT an HTML programming course. Strong computer skills in HTML programming are needed to be considered for this position. Knowledge in JavaScript, PHP, and/or JAVA programming will be helpful. Include in the application a listing of all programming languages in which you are comfortable. Applicants with an interest in science, especially meteorology, will be given preference.

Term: Summer: Minimum of 24 hours per month

    Must be able to work afternoon and/or evening shifts
Orientation required as well as a 1 day class.
Each day would involve a volunteer completing his/her required or assigned tasks. Students will have projects which, in most cases, can be taken home and worked on.
The volunteer is required to complete the NOAA security course.
