In the predawn hours of Sunday April 15, 2007 severe thunderstorms moved across
Central Georgia, producing damage across a number of counties - generally in a swath from Crisp County east to Emanuel County.
Much of this damage was caused by several tornadoes. There have been reports that more than one person was injured during the event.
In Emanuel County...TWO tornadoes...
An EF1 tornado touched down at 2:04am EDT in Treutlen County about 2 miles southeast of Rockledge...tracked across far southern Johnson County and then into western Emanuel County. This tornado lifted at 2:18am EDT 3 miles north-northeast of Adrian.
Total path length was 10 miles. Maximum path width was 1/4 mile. Maximum wind speed was 100 mph. Hundreds of trees were downed along and north of I-16. Two houses southeast of the community of Orianna were damaged and two outbuildings were destroyed. A silo was thrown 1/4 mile into the field across the road. Another home northeast of Orianna received minor damage. In Adrian, a mobile home was rolled over and a utility building had part of its roof removed. Also a dozen homes received minor damage and numerous trees were downed. A campground northeast of Adrian was also damaged as two houses were heavily damaged when trees fell on them. An unsecured mobile home 3 miles north-northeast of Adrian was also destroyed.
A second tornado affected eastern Emanuel County. This tornado was rated
EF2 and touched down at 2:56am EDT 2 miles southeast of Twin City and traveled northeast
lifting 5 miles northeast of Twin City. Total path length was 5 miles. Maximum path
width was 200 yards. Maximum wind speed was 115 mph. Two homes were damaged heavily
removing significant parts of their roofs and walls. Outbuildings were destroyed.
A mobile home was damaged.
