On June 10, 2003 Georgia's StormReady Executive Board recognized Cobb County as a "StormReady Community". A Certificate of Recognition and StormReady street signs were presented to Mr. Mickey Lloyd, Director of Cobb County Emergency Management, and to the county commissioners. Making the presentation was Mr. Barry Gooden, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City, and GEMA representative Gregg Padgett. Also in attendance were Cobb County EMA officers Cindy Garrett, Jim Kilcree, And Mike Ellington.
