Mr. Johnny Wingers and other dignitaries
On Monday May 14, 2001 Georgia's StormReady Executive Board called a press conference in order to recognize Bibb County as a "StormReady Community". A Certificate of Recognition and StormReady street signs were presented to Mr. Johnny Wingers, Director of Bibb County Emergency Management. Making the presentation was Mr. Lans Rothfusz, Meteorologist-in-Charge of the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City. GEMA Director Gary W. McConnell also addressed the gathering, praising Mr. Wingers and local officials for "taking proactive measures to protect their citizens".
