AUGUST 2001 THROUGH JULY 2002 - GEORGIA'S DRIEST AUGUST TO JULY PERIOD ON RECORD

According to records archived by the National Climatic Data Center, Georgia has never experienced a drier August to July period than the one between August 2001 through July 2002.

Although that time frame was the driest for the state as a whole, it was not quite the "driest on record" for 4 major cities in northern and central sections of Georgia. Rankings and rainfall totals for Atlanta, Athens, Columbus, and Macon are shown in the table below.
