Join WFO Peachtree City at WeatherFest on February 2!

From February 3-7, 2014, Atlanta will once again host the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) Annual Meeting.  To kick off the Annual Meeting, on Sunday, February 2, from 12 PM to 4 PM, the AMS will again hold the popular, family friendly WeatherFest at the Georgia World Congress Center (Hall C3).  The best thing is that it is FREE!

So what is WeatherFest?  It’s an interactive, four-hour science and weather fair, full of hands-on activities for kids of all ages.  It will feature dozens of cool, interactive science exhibits with experiments, educational information, career guides, and overall fun geared for kids in grades K-12.

One of these cool exhibits will be WFO Peachtree City’s highly popular HotSeat game, an educational warning decision simulator for all ages.  For those of you familiar with our website or that have attended WeatherFest in years past, many are already aware of the various HotSeat games that we have online.  We will unveil a new simulation for WeatherFest this year, so we hope to see as many of you there as possible!

In addition to the opporunities during WeatherFest, scouts can sign up to earn their Weather Merit Badge or Weather-Ready Nation Patch! Learn more at the AMS website.

Hundreds of Georgians experienced WeatherFest when it was here back in 2006 and 2010.  Unfortunately, 2014 will be the last time WeatherFest will be held in Atlanta, so we encourage as many of you as possible to attend.  For more information, please see the AMS WeatherFest page.

WeatherFest attendees learn what it's like to issue warnings during HotSeat! is the U.S. government's official web portal to all federal, state and local government web resources and services.
