On Saturday evening, December 15, 2007, a supercell thunderstorm moved out of South Georgia into the central part of the state. As it plowed through Wilcox County, it generated a short-lived tornado and then produced straight line winds with speeds up to 100 mph. The storm later generated another short-lived tornado in Dodge County, and then one last twister in Treutlen County. There were no reported injuries, but the Fire Department in Lothair (Treutlen County) suffered the total loss of their building. There were several mobile homes and other structures either damaged or destroyed. The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City, GA surveyed the damage.
In Wilcox County... The supercell thunderstorm produced an EF1 tornado that briefly touched down about 2 miles west of Owensboro. The tornado ripped the roof off an old dairy shed and completely destroyed a cinder block building that was attached to the shed. The tornado dissipated, but the thunderstorm continued to produce damaging winds of 70 to 100 mph as it raced across the southeast part of the county, resulting in the flipping of a manufactured home and the uprooting of numerous large trees. A truck was blown off the road southeast of Abbeville.
