National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office

The Peachtree City Weather Forecast Office of the National Weather Service participated in the 14^th annual Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD) event on November 30 and December 1, 2012. The 24 hour event celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARN^TM radio operators make to the National Weather Service. Fifteen Ham radio operators worked shifts of two or more hours to make this a very successful and enjoyable event.

2012 Skywarn Recognition Day Statistics:

• A total of 347 contacts with other Amateur Radio stations
• 37 other NWS offices were contacted
• Furthest west contact: California
• Furthest north contact: Canada
• Furthest east contact: Germany
• Furthest south contact: Florida
• 34 hours of operating and logging contacts
