SKYWARN TM Recognition Day
November 30 - December 1, 2012

The Peachtree City Weather Forecast Office of the National Weather Service participated in the 14th annual Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD) event on November 30 and December 1, 2012. The 24 hour event celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARNTM radio operators make to the National Weather Service. Fifteen Ham radio operators worked shifts of two or more hours to make this a very successful and enjoyable event.

2012 Skywarn Recognition Day Statistics:

  • A total of 347 contacts with other Amateur Radio stations
  • 37 other NWS offices were contacted
  • Furthest west contact: California
  • Furthest north contact: Canada
  • Furthest east contact: Germany
  • Furthest south contact: Florida
  • 34 hours of operating and logging contacts
