A vigorous upper level low travelling east along the Gulf Coast caused an intense low pressure system to develop. Both systems moved across Georgia resulting in widespread soaking rains and even some minor flooding at some locations. Reported amounts in some river basins exceeded 5 inches over a 3-day period.
