This year, we have already passed the record first freeze dates of the season (Atlanta - October 11, Athens - October 9, Columbus - October 21, Macon - October 14). For the northern portion of the state, the average date of the first autumn freeze has also passed, however, based on forecast temperatures for November 6th and 7th, it appears that the first freeze date of the season will be early for central portions of the state. The map below shows the average dates when various areas of the state see the first freeze of Autumn. These dates were determined based on all available data for the cooperative observers and four climate stations. Atlanta | Athens | Blairsville | Columbus | Macon
