The ceremony took place at the Wheeler family farm in Warrenton. “I’m not sure I’ll be around for another 25 years, but we’ll go as long as we can,” Albert said. Every morning Albert takes his coffee at a local café and every morning the local patrons ask him about the weather in Warrenton. The National Weather Service recently presented a 10 Year Length of Service Award to Jack, Russell and Martha Beach of Winterville, Georgia. The ceremony was held at Jack and Martha’s business, INCO, Inc. in Crawford on 29 July 2010. The 10 Year Award was not for service at Winterville, which they received last year, but for overseeing the Hourly Precipitation Data tape pickup at Jefferson and Monroe. You might think that Russell, their German Sheppard is only in the picture as a prop, but you would be wrong. Russell travels with Martha and Jack to both locations to retrieve the tapes each month and also travel with the Beach’s when the sites were transferred to them ten years ago!
