3. Year 2006 sets records for warmth
More than usual 100 degree days have
shown up in 2006, and they began early.
Del Rio had 3 100 degree days in April and May, while San Antonio had 1
100 degree day in April. The heat came on in June, was interrupted for
several days in the beginning of July, then returned strong around
July 5th to the 19th and 20th. Daytime highs then moderated, yet
the heat returned July 28th, and the trend continued for August 2006.

A review of Year 2006 shows the year
warm right out of the gate in early January,
and overall the winter was very mild. 90 degree days
came early in March and 100 degree days came early in April.
This was not unusual considering the mild winter and
very dry conditions.
In looking at 2006 from January to August, Year 2006 is
so far the warmest at San Antonio since 1885; the
2nd warmest at Austin Mabry since 1854; and the 3rd warmest
for Del Rio since 1906.
