South Central Texas Fall/Winter Rainfall and El Niņo

A historical review of all El Niņo events since 1950, shows that on average when El Niņo Events came, rainfall was enhanced. The graphs below depict the average rainfall during El Niņo Events for 3 month time periods, from October to December, OND; November to January, NDJ; December to February, DJF; January to March, JFM; February to April, FMA; March to May, MAM; and April to June, AMJ.

The graphs illustrate that during El Niņo Events from 1950 to 2005, South Central Texas rainfall was on average enhanced, and that rainfall was more evenly distributed and less episodic in the Mid and Late Fall to the Winter and Early Spring.
