September 2005 Weather in Review
|
|
September 2005 was one of the warmest Septembers of record and
very dry rainfall wise for the month.
Even though Fall officially began September 22nd this year, the hottest days
of 2005 showed up September 25th to the 28th. September 25th to 28th, 2005
was the warmest 4 day period of record for late September
since the late 1800s. Some of the record highs exceeded the
old daily records by several degrees. The warmest day for the Fall Season of
Record was established September 25 at Austin Mabry with 107,
Austin Bergstrom with 108, Del Rio with 107, and San Antonio with 105.
On the 26th, Austin Mabry's high of 107 tied the high
for the 25th, making September 25 and 26, 2005 the warmest for
the Fall Season at Austin Mabry.
The 4 day stretch of record breaking temperatures from
Septebmer 25th to 28th, 2005
comes just 5 years from another historic record breaking
stretch of hot days from September 1st to 6th, 2000. In early
September 2000, All Time Highs of Climate Record was

when the highs was 110.
The hot weather in late September 2005 was similar to what occurred
in late September 1953. On October 2, 1938 Austin had a high of
100, a record high for October at Austin, and it was the only
100 degree day and warmest day of 1938 in Austin. Other unseasonably
warm events in early
Fall came in early October of 1979, when Del Rio had highs of
101 October 1; 99 October 2, and 106 October 3, 1979. On October 3, 1979

when a high aloft got strong over South Central Texas was
in October 1991. On the weekend of October 12 and 13, 1991 highs
were in the mid to upper 90s. On October 12, 1991 San Antonio
