November 2005 Weather in Review

The warm weather from the summer of 2005, and record breaking warmth in late September 2005, continued to come back in October and November, in wake of strong cold fronts.

November 2005 was both dry and overall warm, yet showed vast extremes from cold to warm and warm to cold. After a cool first start of the month on the 1st and 2nd, conditions warmed up greatly the 3rd, and it continued unseasonably warm through the 14th. A strong cold front the 15th brought considerably cooler weather, that lasted through the 22nd. Conditions warmed up again just before Thanksgiving Day. The best rain event of the month came with an area of showers and thunderstorms the night of the 25th and morning of the 26th. Dry conditions quickly followed. Very warm and dry conditions came Sunday the 27th, as warm west and southwest winds sent afternoon highs to some of the warmest for the month at places over the west part of South Central Texas. Highs over the west part of South Central Texas the 27th were near 90 to the low 90s. A strong cold front came through the area the night of the 27th, bringing much cooler conditions quickly the night of the 27th and day of the 28th.  The month ended the 29th and 30th dry, the same way it had began. In addition to the lack of significant rain, the number of mostly clear days and above normal temperatures in the month, contributed to the dryness, with more evaporation than usual.

After record breaking rains in 2004, especially in June 2004 and November 2004, much drier conditions have prevailed through most of 2005.
