100 Degree Day Infomation through July 31, 2003 and History
Afternoon highs in June or July of 2003, reached the
Century Mark twice at Austin Mabry and once at Del Rio.
At Del Rio, a 100 degree day occurred on July 15th,
when the high was 101. At Austin Mabry 100 degree
days came on July 30th, when the high was 101, and
on July 31st, when the high was 100.
At New Braunfels, Hondo, San Marcos or Burnet, no 100 degree
days have been observed either in June or July of this Year.
At Georgetown it came close to 100 on July 30th, when the
high reached 99.
Afternoon highs at Austin Bergstrom International Airport
and San Antonio International Airport did not reach
the Century Mark in June or July of 2003.
Last year afternoon highs in the Austin and San Antonio Areas
reached the Century Mark in late August.
On Sunday August 25th, 2002 the high reached 100 at Austin Mabry.
On Monday, August 26th, the high reached 101 at Austin Bergstrom,
and 100 at the San Antonio International Airport, for the 1st 100
degree day last year, 2002. At Del Rio, the first time it
reached 100 last year was on April 29th, 2002, when the
high was 100. At New Braunfels the first time it reached 100
last year was August 7th, 2002, when the high was 100.

The most 100 Degree Days in any year for Austin, Del Rio, and
San Antonio follows: Austin Mueller/Mabry 69 100 Degree Days in 1925;
Del Rio 68 100 Degree Days in 1998; and San Antonio 36 100 Degree Days
in 1998.
As it took a long time for many places to reach 100 this year,
a review of
records shows that this has happened in the past, where the
1st 100 degree days
did not show up until mid to late August to early
September. In 1938, it took
until October 2nd for Austin to see its first
and only 100 degree day for that
year. Climate records also show that there were years
that No 100 degree days
showed up for the entire calendar year. The list
below shows a history of those
years when No 100 degree days came for Ausitn,
Del Rio and San Antonio.
