The El Paso/Santa Teresa Weather Forecast
            Office Welcomes New Area Manager

In August 2003 Bill Alexander became the new Meteorologist-In-Charge of the National Weather Service Forecast Office at El Paso/Santa Teresa. Bill began his meteorological career as an intern at Fort Worth in 1982 and for seven years he served as a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist in Lubbock. Later he became the first Regional Warning Coordination Meteorologist at Southern Region Headquarters in Fort Worth.

In 1992 Bill transferred to the National Weather Service National Headquarters in Maryland where he served as national program manager for Severe Local Storms and Flash Floods until 1999. Bill then joined the Alaska Region Headquarters staff as deputy chief of the Environmental Sciences and Services Division. While in Alaska Bill served as the manager of the national volcanic ash program, regional aviation meteorologist and Alaska Fire Weather program manager. With his strong background Bill brings valuable experience and expertise to the El Paso/Santa Teresa Forecast Office.

Bill replaces Max Blood, who transferred to Tulsa in June after being the El Paso Area Manager since 1988. We wish Max continued success in his career as a meteorologist.
