Meet the Staff

During the past three months the National Weather Service at Santa Teresa has lost one employee and gained two.

Intern Shawn Rossi, the former editor of this newsletter, was promoted to a journeyman forecaster position at Medford, Oregon. Shawn will be involved in Warning Coordination activities in his new position. We wish him continued success in his career as a meteorologist.

Lead forecaster Joe Rogash joined the Santa Teresa office

in late August after spending six years as a lead forecaster at the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma. Joe received his M.S. degree in Atmospheric Sciences from Colorado State University and has been employed as a meteorologist at White Sands Missile Range, and at the National Weather Service offices in Boston, Massachusetts, Cheyenne, Wyoming and Memphis, Tennessee. He was also an adjunct professor at Memphis State University where he taught dynamic meteorology.

His professional interests include tornadoes and flash floods. Joe currently resides in New Mexico with his wife Charlotte and daughters Lindsay and Lisa.

Meteorologist Heather Orow became our newest Intern in October. Heather grew up in Michigan and received her Meteorology degree from Central Michigan University in 1999 where she was also a student volunteer for the National Weather Service in White Lakes. In addition, Heather has performed on-the-air weather broadcasts for radio station WJR in Michigan. She plans to become active in Fire Weather Forecasting while in New Mexico. Her other interests include hiking and traveling.
