Bob Cooper Announces Retirement

before beginning work with the National Weather Service here in El Paso, TX. In 1982, Bob was transferred to the Midland, TX National Weather Service office where he remained until 1995.  Bob was promoted to his current position in El Paso in 1995.  After his retirement Bob plans to move back to Midland, TX where he owns several acres of land.  Bob was an integral part of our management team and will surely be missed.

After 33 years of government service, Bob Cooper, the Data Acquisition Program Manager (DAPM) at the NWS office in El Paso, has decided to retire.  Bob began his service with the US Navy in 1964, where he was trained as both a weather observer and forecaster.  While in the Navy, Bob spent time in Vietnam, Morocco, Greece, as well as several ports in the United States.  Bob left the US Navy from 1968-1970 to attend Southwest Missouri State University and finally got out of the US Navy in 1978. Bob spent the following two years with the US Postal Service
